Hydrogeology and Geothermics

Master of Science in Hydrogeology and Geothermics

The Centre for Hydrogeology and Geothermics offers a unique Master programme in Switzerland

Moving towards sustainable use of subsurface water and energy resources is a major challenge for our society and for geoscientists in particular.

This internationally recognized Master degree aims to offer a complete introduction to the current scientific approaches
to address this challenge.

Hydrogeology option

This option reinforces the technical skills related to groundwater prospection and abstraction, as well as to the characterisation and protection of aquifers. Particular emphasis is laid upon groundwater contamination processes and remediation issues.

Geothermics option

This option allows students to develop the skills that are required for the understanding of geothermal reservoirs, such as geology, geophysics, petrophysics, hydrogeology and geochemistry. It offers training on prospection and exploitation techniques, needed for the management of low, medium and high temperature geothermal resources.
