Katarzyna Michalkiewicz studied Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Polish Studies, and Information and Library Science at the Faculty of Management and Social Communication at Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland. She completed a master thesis on travel literature in 2007 and one on Polish guidebooks of the interwar period in 2008. She has received a scholarship from Scientific Exchange Programme NMS-Ch to work on her doctoral thesis on mountains' relations to the development of national identities at the University of Neuchâtel.
